The Starting Off Project: Mascara

Ah mascara, possibly one of my favourite make up items just because it makes so much difference to my made up face. There are a myriad of options to choose from with mascaras, lengthening, volumising, tinted, ones with straight brushes, ones with curves brushes, and so on but the most important factor in a mascara is probably it’s ‘clumpability’. This is a deal breaker for most people and I know it’s an instant rejection for me if the mascara gives me spider leg lashes. Not the most appealing appearance I know, but I’ve figured out a new technique to make almost any mascara into a clump free mascara!

Whatever mascara you choose, you have to give this a try and let me know if it reduces the clumpability of your mascara! Just as a warning to mobile users, this is a picture heavy post!

The Starting Off Project: Blush

Like I mentioned in my intro post to the starting off project series, I’ll only be participating in certain weeks and this week is all about blush! I know there are many different types of blushes ranging from powder, cream and liquid but for today’s post on blush I’ll be focusing on liquid blushers.
I prefer liquid blushes over powder or cream simply because it gives a more natural glow that is hard to do with powder or cream blushes. Which ever type of blush you pick, it is important to be able to apply it correctly and well. In this post I’ll be sharing with you a technique to apply liquid (or cream) blush without having to use your fingers and it will look more natural simply because it’s easier to blend with a brush. I learnt this technique from Paris of My Women stuff and the original post can be found here.

This is a pretty easy technique and all you need is your liquid blush and a blush brush.

The Starting Off Project: Concealer

What a way to start off the month of September! Today is the first Starting Off (SO) Project post I’ll be posting up and if you don’t know what the SO project is, check out my intro post for it! There you can find details about the project and the schedule for each weekly post.
There are liquid, sick, and cream concealers housed in pens, tubes and tubs – as it is the combinations are mind boggling and I know its easy to get lost in the myriad of options available. In this post I’ll be introducing my trusty dual ended Radiance Concealer Dual Veil stick I purchased from The Face Shop, and let you know why I think its one of my favourite concealers!

The Starting Off Project – Intro

Stephanie from Steph’s Inside Voice came up with this and I read about this project from Josephine Nychole. I thought it’s a great way to introduce basic products that I use and any tips I can pass on so I’ll be participating in The Starting Off Project! (#theSOproject) It’s a kind of collaboration between bloggers where everyone participating posts about a specific category of beauty product on a certain day – works out to be a fantastic source of information! Read on if you’re interested in participating or just want to know when things will be published!

The Deets:

Each week, for 10 weeks, there will be one post for the SO project and the schedule is as follows:
Week 1: Skincare
Week 2: Concealer
Week 3: Foundation
Week 4: Bronzer
Week 5: Blusher
Week 6: Mascara
Week 7: Eyeliner
Week 8: Eyeshadow
Week 9: Lipstick/Gloss
Week 10: Makeup Tools

Week 11 {optional}: Round up post.

It is not necessary to participate in all the weeks and I’ll only be participating in the weeks in bold – mostly because I don’t want to give out bad information on things I don’t know much about!

The post should outline how you use the product, experiences with it, and any of your favourites in that category (as well as any additional information). The posts should be published on Tuesdays (the first week starting on the 27th of Aug) at 6PM UK time (anytime Tuesday should be OK though) and if you’re sharing on Twitter, remember to #theSOproject!

I’d love to know if anyone is going to participate and which weeks you’re interested in writing up a post for! If you’re not participating, which weeks are you most looking forward to reading? I’m personally going to keep an eye out for the skin care and eyeshadow weeks!

Next post will be scheduled as per-normal on Wednesday! It’ll be a normal review post so keep an eye out for it!
