Summer is imminently upon us and you know what that means! Slippers, sandals and strappy heels season! The lovely people at Scholl has sent me their Velvet Smooth pedicure set for review as well as an extra set to giveaway! The line up includes the Velvet Smooth Express Pedi, Velvet Smooth Night Mask and the Velvet Smooth Intense Serum.
Read on for the full review as well as the giveaway deets!
Basically: This set is the ultimate in foot care. It exfoliates, soothes and hydrates to prepare your soles for the party season. The Velvet smooth express pedi is a physical exfoliator to remove any flaking skin while the Intense serum follows right after to soothe freshly exfoliated skin. The Night mask is a daily or every other night treatment to maintain the skin on your feet at its best condition.
The good stuff: I’ll break this up into three parts, one for each product for ease of reading.
Velvet smooth express pedi
The express pedi works like a fine sandpaper to remove any flaking or dry skin. While it may seem intimidating at first, the exfoliating head is actually quite gentle and it has a fail safe built into the system where if you press too hard (risking over exfoliation) the exfoliating head will stop running. I found it was most effective to remove a very thin surface layer of dry skin around my heels but it will not make a dent in hard callouses. Indeed, removal of callouses is not its intended purpose!
Velvet smooth Intense serum
After exfoliation with the Express Pedi, you follow up with the intense serum to soothe your skin. It has a thin consistency and while it absorbs quickly, it remains slightly tacky to the touch for a few minutes until it has totally absorbed. I recommend applying this while your feet are off the floor – such as while watching TV or laying back with a good book. It has a slight floral/powdery scent but is unnoticeable once applied.
Velvet smooth night mask
This is best used daily or every other day. I usually apply this after a shower when my feet are still nice and moist. The cream is thick but once applied it absorbs quickly and does not leave a sticky residue. After a few minutes I don’t notice it on and my feet feel as though I haven’t applied anything. It has a similar scent to the Intense serum but overall once applied the scent is not noticeable. After application, there is a noticeable softness in my skin so this was really the product that stood out for me.
Issues: I found the intense serum to bit a little bit runny which made application a bit tricky but other wise I think this set is a pretty good foot care all rounder!

In a Nutshell:
A great set to prep your feet for the summer!
Love: All three Velvet smooth items work very well together, the night mask leaves my heels and soles very soft the next day and is usable everyday. The Express Pedi and intense serum are more of a weekly treat but does their part well. The Express Pedi is also quite gentle but is still effective at removing dry surface skin.
Do not love: The intense serum is a little thin for my liking and leaves a slightly sticky residue for a few minutes before it absorbs.
Recommended? I definitely recommend the night mask for anyone and the express pedi+intense serum if you have dry, flaky skin on your heels/soles.
I rate it: 4/5 for the total package – everything works well together but individually they still excel.
