Review: Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream

It seems snail products are the rave this season and the Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream is such a product that has been well and truly embedded in the current snail must-haves. I had read so many glowing reviews on this product that I knew I had to try it! It was about USD$5-6 for 45ml so it wasn’t a huge risk but it still didn’t work very well for me =[

Basically… It’s a moisturiser with a gel like texture and you use this as the last (or second last) step in your skin care routine. It contains 74% snail secretion filtrate which is the real star of this product as snail mucin has been widely promoted in skin care for it’s reparative functions.

The Good stuff… It has a very mild scent, absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a sticky residue. A pea sized amount of product is enough to cover my face and neck so it’s definitely good value for money.

Issues… Even though I’ve had this for so long, I’ve only used it for about half a week before stopping. The reason for this was because every time I used this product (with no changes in other products I use) I would grease up like crazy! I have never experienced oily skin before using this product but somehow, this makes my skin go on an oil production rampage. The oil would show up about an hour after I used the gel. It was so bad even my boyfriend noticed the oiliness.

Swatches… It has a milky gel appearance.

In a Nutshell:

Love: Quick absorption, good value for money and little to no scent
Do not love: Makes me oily within an hour
Repurchase? Unfortunately not
Should you buy it? I think it is worth trying even though I’ve had a bad experience with this product – if you’re after a snail mucin product do give this a shot as it is relatively inexpensive compared to other snail mucin products out there and isn’t a huge monetary risk to try it.
I rate it: 2.5/5

Have you tried this before?

Aww, that’s so disappointing. Someone else on the AsianBeautyBoards mentioned it breaking them out, maybe, didn’t they? So weird that my oily skin ends up less greasy with it. Lol.

I’m pretty sure it just depends on skin type! There are so many things out there that just won’t work because of individual factors lol
Still, I’m not hating on this just because I know it works for so many other people!

What a shame this didn’t work for you. I was contemplating on whether to buy this because there are many people raving about Mizon and their snail products. I have oily skin so this probably is a no no.

it’s weird for me since I have normal skin, but I heard a few people with oily skin have found that this has reduced oiliness? I know @Beauty_Junkie:disqus doesn’t have a problem with it even though her skin type is oilier. Probs just depends on individual skin! I think you should give it a try anyway!

I have this one, too, but it didn’t make my skin oily. Unfortunately it didn’t work for you 🙁 it’s so cheap compared to other snail products. :/

I know right? I wish it worked for me – it’s so affordable but sadly just doesn’t want to agree with me T^T
